We snap many shots to ensure we capture what our eye sees. Then we try to keep one or two but often wind up with dozens of the same or slight variations.

What I like about your heron photo is he is grooming himself, a necessary bird routine. The photo makes you wonder if his grooming is an after-a-meal cleanup, or his morning preening before he searches for food. I love the snow-laden branches in this shot.
