Loving Teddy Bears Is Universal
Six Word Photo Story
Every creature needs a teddy bear
Although Goonie Bug, our macaw, has a collection of bears to choose from, he usually selects the beat-up brown bear with the unraveling nose to cuddle.
He snoozes, straddling his favorite teddy, on top of his cage overlooking the west side of the yard. During the cooler months, the afternoon sun streaming in full-length windows next to his cage provides additional warmth. In the summer, he basks like one of our cats, soaking up the sun streaming through the window, his feathers glistening.
Once the sun sets, and I pull down the kitchen window shades, Goonie retreats into his cage to sleep, leaving his bear behind.
I keep birds -twelve cockatiels, two parakeets, nine doves, and the macaw. He lives in the kitchen away from the small birds because he terrifies them with his size and noise. Have you ever heard a macaw scream? When he does, usually in excitement or fear, my Apple watch posts an alarm warning his scream is loud enough to damage my ears.
