I wish people who think they want a parrot were required to attend classes highlighting all the points you cover. They might reconsider if part of the class was spending a week caring for these intelligent creatures.

Over the past twenty years, we took in many birds from owners who found them too much care or too noisy. At 82, I no longer take in unwanted birds.
