I visited my local Social Security office and a lovely woman went through the paperwork with me, and roughly 30 minutes later I was enrolled.

I went online to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. That too was easy but took much longer than signing up for SS benefits.

I retired at 74, and the extra years of working added to my SS payouts.
