I recently reconnected with an old friend. We lost touch when she relocated to the west coast some twenty years ago. Our jobs and the time difference made it difficult to communicate. Now that we are both retired, we have time to talk. We chat weekly after my east coast dinner and before her west coast meal. I am glad we did not let each other slide away. Friendships matter.
