I have a friend who stopped her divorce proceedings because the man she wanted to divorce fell ill. She spent a year nursing him back to health and then divorced him.

He needed her and she stepped up because she believed it was the right thing to do for the father of her children. They remained on friendly terms after the divorce. She never spoke ill of him, another admirable trait.
