I have a cousin, the same age, and she never had one hot fash. She never noticed her transition. I have read (and I read all the books that were current during my early years of hot flashes) that some women committed suicide because their symptoms were so severe. Mine were and are annoying but I dress in layers as a coping device. Working in a male-dominated industry meant a lot of unwanted teasing and attention.
