I don't see as you do. I'm cynical about human nature striving for love, kindness, and benevolence for others. We seem to be self-centered, focused on preserving ourselves and improving our lot. We donate to charities, volunteer, and join group efforts to benefit our communities but not if it threatens our security and well-being.

We hide behind religion, espousing love, and charity, but our actions are vengeful and cruel. Our government is focused on introducing Christianity into every nook and corner of our lives. Their version excludes vast numbers of people who are not worthy of compassion.

Last, you are not taking into account how mental illness can twist a person’s view of themselves and their relationship and obligations to others ( showing mercy, love, and kindness).
