I am starting the caretaker journey. My husband has been diagnosed with dementia. He is in the early stages, mostly forgetful, but we have endured some painful days already. Having seen other members of my family struggle with aunts and uncles who no longer knew them, and the adverse effect upon their health, I know my life forward will be difficult and sometimes unbearable. Support groups are in my plan for caring for myself.
