I am blessed with many activities that interest me as well as calm me down when I feel overwhelmed. There is Medium, of course, zigsaw puzzles (I can spend hours happily assembling them), crossword puzzles, frequent lengthy phone calls with my two siblings, and the daily care of 38 critters (30 birds and 8 cats).
My husband is in the early stages of dementia (not defined). He is forgetful, defensive, and increasingly only focused on himself and his needs. Watching him empty the trash in his bedroom slippers, walking across a wet, muddy area to do so, is a lesson in minding my own business. He did empty the trash. The fact he did not remove his slippers even after returning to the house is just the way it is these days.
