Caring for someone who has been diagnosed with dementia is exhausting. I witnessed how it destroyed one of my aunts whose brilliant scientist husband spent his final years confined to bed, having no idea that the woman who cared for him was his wife. She had support and some outside help, but the main burden was hers. It shortened her life.
